Win Up To $10,000 In Home Energy $avings Improvements!

The Clean Energy Coalition has partnered with the City of Ann Arbor Energy Office and Michigan Energy Office to present a contest in which Michigan residents will have the opportunity to win up to $10,000 in energy-related home improvements. Twenty-eight winning contestants with higher-than-average home energy bills will be chosen from contest entry forms.

The Prizes:

Grand Prize (1): The contestant with the greatest potential to demonstrate home energy savings will win up to $10,000 in energy-related home improvements.

First Prize (4): Four first prize winners will receive a comprehensive energy analysis of their home (valued at $400) with specific recommendations on how to best cut their utility bills.

Second Prize (23): The twenty-three remaining winners will each receive a $25 Home Depot gift card.

Why Are We Doing This Contest?

We see it every week on television, the lucky participants of makeover shows receive thousands of dollars worth of products, services, and professional advice to transform their car, living room, or wardrobe. Wouldn't it be fantastic if those programs told us which changes (investments!) we could make at home that would end up saving us money!

Our goal with this contest is to show how a one-time investment in energy-efficiency improvements can save homeowners money every month for as long as they own their home. We also want to make a compelling case for homeowners to make the improvements themselves.

How You Can Enter The Contest

The contest kicks off on March 1, 2007. Michigan homes with no unusual types of major energy use (for example: indoor swimming pools, heated driveways, greenhouses, or commercial applications) are eligible to participate.

To participate, entrants have to complete the Makeover Contest entry form, which includes their electricity, gas, propane, or heating oil use for the last 12 months. If you do not have old utility bills with this information, you can typically easily obtain this information by logging into your online account with your utility provider.

Finalists must be willing to open their homes to the media (for publicity), a review team, and contest sponsors.
